The 69th Independence Day of our country was celebrated with much reverence at the District Stadium in Pathanamthitta on Saturday, August 15, 2015. The ceremonies organized by the District authorities were themed around freedom from waste. An oath on the campaign was administered by the chief guest, Sri Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Minister for Sports, Forest and Wildlife. On this day, he conveyed a powerful message to the youth – that together they should bravely face the threats to our country from both inside and outside its borders. He also spoke about how society should also strive to cherish the dreams of the younger generation.
The students of our Amrita Vidyalayam took part in the celebrations with much pride and enthusiasm. The programme ‘Amritam Gamaya’ performed by our students showcased patriotism to our motherland. It highlighted the fact that the gift of India to the world is her culture of Self-Realization, her vision of raising man to the heights of God-consciousness. ‘Amritam Gamaya’ won the second prize among the cultural programmes conducted in connection with the Independence Day Celebration. Our students also got the consolation prize for Band.
