A DAY WITH THE DOWNTRODDEN

“Onward forever! Sympathy for the poor, the downtrodden, even unto death – this is our motto.” “Go from village to village, do good to humanity and to the world at large”- Swami Vivekananda.

The members of “Amritam Club” extended tender hands of compassion and love to the poor and needy and inspired others to follow in their path. 25 students and 15 teachers visited Adivasi families in the Sabarimala, Nilakkal and Moozhiyar forest area, and saw for themselves the pathetic condition of their lives. Principal Bri. Sethu Madhavan and Vice-Principal Smt. Sumangala Haridas accompanied the team.

“Service to humanity is the highest form of worship”- The members of Amritam Club rendered their help to 40 Adivasi families – thus performing “Manushya Yajna” which is part of the “Pancha Mahayajnas”. Each Adivasi family was given 300 kg of rice and 80 kg of green gram in order to alleviate their pathetic condition.

They also visited “Manikandan Ashram”, Perunad, where Adivasi children are looked after. Keeping in mind the words, “It is a privilege to serve mankind, for this is worship of God”, the club members decided to extend their help for the welfare of the poor and needy.
