“Satgamaya”- My Life, My Career

“Satgamaya”, a two day camp that seeks to enrich moral values in students was conducted in the school premises on November 28th and 29th, 2013.

“Satgamaya”works for the betterment of the two things in its motto, “My life, My career”. The two day camp was presented by Brahmachari Abhiram, Br.Roopesh, Br.Ashish, Br.Srikant and Sri.Sumesh- all prominent members of the faculty of Amrita School of Engineering.

The session on the first day focussed on “life and career”. It gave emphasis on “what the mind actually is and how permanent happiness can be sought”. The meditative session that followed justified the conclusion that the mind is just a “flow of thoughts” and that happiness comes not from external objects,but from within. Simple things that can change our lives and create magic-such as tending a plant,revering one’s parents and controlling anger were discussed. The session succeeded in presenting complex mysteries of the human mind in the most comprehendable manner.

Br.Abhiram’s class stressed on “how service is the key to contented existence”. Videos of real-life heroes in India who have made a difference in the lives of several downtrodden people were also displayed in the session.

The session was made interesting through entertainment games which challenged the students to do tasks that tested their creativity and confidance.

Late comes to the class was punished in the most interesting manner,which not one ever expected. They were applanded first and then made to imitate Cyclists and Bullock-cart riders.

Br.Roopesh’s session helped students to understand “how an unhealthy lifestyle could lead to a troubled existance”. He discussed about how stress,depression and academic difficulties could easily be dealt with if the mind was properly harnessed. The enlighting session ended with five minutes of “Ma-Om” meditation which was personally prescribed by Satguru Mata Amritanandamayi Devi for “Mastering the mind”.

The last session of the day by Br.Ashish was much helpful for the students as it discussed various career option. Students were asked to make a list of their “short-term goals and long –term one’s”. It also focused on time management in ensuring a bright future.

The second day of “Satgamaya” camp dealt with the “Culture and Heritage of India”.The session highlighted India’s culture and heritage. It stated that “India is the most powerful country in the world”.

The word “Bharatham”-giving light to the entire world revealed India’s pomp and glory. All the hidden facts about India’s glorious part,it’s culture and heritage made the students proud to be an Indian.India had the credit of having the world’s first residential University-Nalanda University India’s excellance was revealed in all aspects-Language, Science, Arts, Mathematics etc. India’s glorious part was destroyed by the foreignness whom we welcomed ourselves according to our “Adithi Devo Bhava” concept.

The session focussed time to pour a glimpse of Vedic Mathematics to the students.Moreover,it emphasized on the social issues prewaiting in India.

The camp succeeded in calculating a spirit of Nationalism among the students. It motivated the students to uplift India out of the debris like the phoenix bird rejuvenating from its ashes.
